Good to Know

Platform restrictions outside any integration tool's control

Indian business entity requirement

Flipkart requires sellers to have a registered Indian business entity (GSTIN, PAN). International Shopify merchants without an Indian entity cannot sell directly on Flipkart.

Cash-on-delivery order handling

Approximately 50% of Flipkart orders use cash-on-delivery (COD). COD orders have higher return rates and different payment reconciliation flows than prepaid orders. Nventory imports COD orders but cannot guarantee payment collection.

Flipkart advertising (Flipkart Ads)

Flipkart's advertising platform is managed within the Flipkart Seller Hub. Campaign management, keyword bidding, and ad spend are outside Nventory's sync scope.

Brand approval requirements

Flipkart requires brand authorization letters for selling branded products. This approval process is managed directly with Flipkart and cannot be automated through integration.

Things to Consider

Platform-specific details and how they affect this integration.

Challenge

Indian law requires all products to display a Maximum Retail Price (MRP) that includes all taxes. The selling price on Flipkart must be at or below MRP. Shopify merchants unfamiliar with Indian pricing regulations often set prices that violate MRP rules, leading to listing rejections. Additionally, GST rates vary by product category (5%, 12%, 18%, or 28%), and incorrect HSN code mapping results in tax compliance issues.

Nventory's Approach

Nventory maps Shopify products to appropriate HSN codes and GST rates based on Flipkart's category taxonomy. MRP is calculated from your selling price plus applicable GST. A validation layer checks that selling price never exceeds MRP before publishing to Flipkart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Nventory maps your Shopify product data to Flipkart's required fields, including Maximum Retail Price (MRP), HSN codes for GST classification, and country of origin.

If you have a registered Indian business entity and Flipkart seller account, Nventory connects your international Shopify store to Flipkart. Cross-border selling rules depend on your Flipkart seller agreement.

Nventory lets you set INR-specific pricing rules — fixed conversion rates, margin adjustments, or manual overrides — independent of your Shopify base pricing in other currencies.

Yes. Nventory tracks inventory at Flipkart's fulfillment centers and includes those quantities in your overall stock calculations, giving you unified visibility across Shopify and Flipkart.

Nventory syncs inventory between Shopify and Flipkart in near real-time, typically within 2-5 minutes. Shopify webhooks trigger instant stock adjustments on Flipkart, which is critical during high-volume events like Big Billion Days when order velocity can spike 10-50x above normal levels.

Yes. Flipkart orders are imported into Nventory and synced to your Shopify admin with buyer details, Indian shipping addresses, and payment method flags including cash-on-delivery. This lets you process Flipkart sales alongside your Shopify DTC orders from a unified fulfillment workflow.

Start by verifying the sync delay between Shopify and Flipkart — inventory updates typically propagate within a few minutes, so recent sales may not yet be reflected. Next, review your buffer stock settings in Nventory, as overly aggressive safety stock rules can cause Flipkart to show lower quantities than expected. Finally, if you use Shopify's multi-location inventory, confirm that all relevant locations are included in the sync — excluded locations will cause Flipkart counts to understate your actual available stock.
