Good to Know
Platform restrictions outside any integration tool's control
Amazon does not expose review data through its Selling Partner API. Reviews remain Amazon-only.
A+ Content is managed within Brand Registry and has no API write access. Must be managed in Seller Central.
PPC campaigns, Sponsored Products, and DSP ads are managed through Amazon Ads API, which is outside Nventory's sync scope.
Amazon does not provide real-time Buy Box data via API. Nventory syncs pricing but cannot guarantee Buy Box wins.
Things to Consider
Platform-specific details and how they affect this integration.
Amazon's FBA warehouses hold inventory that appears 'available' on Amazon but is physically separate from your Shopify stock. When FBA runs low, Shopify may still show items in stock from your warehouse — but Amazon customers will see longer shipping times or lost Buy Box.
Nventory maintains separate inventory pools for FBA vs. merchant-fulfilled stock. Total available quantity on Shopify = warehouse stock + FBA stock - reserved orders. You can set FBA restock alerts and exclude FBA quantities from Shopify availability if needed.
Who Uses Shopify Amazon Integration
Common scenarios for connecting Shopify and Amazon.
How It Works
Nventory sits between your platforms and keeps everything in sync.
Connect Your Accounts
Link your Shopify store and Amazon Seller Central account through Nventory's secure OAuth flow. Supports multiple Amazon regions from a single connection.
Map Products to ASINs
Match your Shopify catalog to existing Amazon ASINs or create new listings. Nventory auto-detects matching SKUs and suggests ASIN pairings.
Sync Inventory in Real Time
Enable bidirectional inventory sync through Nventory so every sale on Shopify or Amazon instantly updates available stock across both channels, including FBA warehouse quantities.
Automate Order & Fulfillment Routing
Set rules in Nventory to auto-route Amazon orders to FBA, your 3PL, or Shopify fulfillment locations based on product type, region, or stock availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Nventory pulls real-time FBA inventory levels from Amazon and factors them into your total available stock shown on Shopify. When FBA quantities change due to sales, returns, or inbound shipments, your Shopify availability updates automatically.
Absolutely. Connect any Amazon marketplace — US, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, and more — and map each to your Shopify catalog. Nventory handles currency-specific pricing and region-specific inventory pools.
Yes. Nventory maps Shopify variants to Amazon's parent-child ASIN structure so that each size or color variation is individually tracked for inventory and pricing.
Inventory changes sync within minutes. When a sale occurs on either channel, Nventory immediately adjusts available stock on the other to prevent overselling.
Nventory focuses on inventory, orders, and product data synchronization. For Amazon PPC management, you would continue to use Seller Central or a dedicated advertising tool, but your product data and stock levels will always be up to date.
Nventory syncs inventory between Shopify and Amazon in near real-time, typically within 2-5 minutes of a stock change. This prevents overselling across channels, even during high-volume sales events like Prime Day or flash sales.
Nventory maps Shopify SKUs to Amazon ASINs during initial setup using SKU, UPC, or EAN matching. If a product exists on one channel but not the other, Nventory flags it for manual review rather than creating duplicates or breaking existing listings.
Start by verifying the sync delay between Shopify and Amazon — inventory updates typically propagate within a few minutes, so recent sales may not yet be reflected. Next, review your buffer stock settings in Nventory, as overly aggressive safety stock rules can cause Amazon to show lower quantities than expected. Finally, if you use Shopify's multi-location inventory, confirm that all relevant locations are included in the sync — excluded locations will cause Amazon counts to understate your actual available stock.
